Philosophy

In my personal work, I draw inspiration from the forms of nature, the principles revealed by science, and the patterns born of geometry.  The physical process itself also reveals what may be possible and just through play, new ideas flourish. Sometimes it feels like the piece is making itself and that I’m just the facilitator.

A piece should hold visual interest from every distance. From afar, its overall silhouette or composition must feel harmonious, moving closer the forms and relationships reveal themselves within the structure. At the most intimate range, subtle details emerge—textures, transitions, and marks of making.  The more you look, the more there is.

Jewellery is inherently personal and deserves an equally personal approach. I believe that care and intent translate into the outcome and produces a wearable object that is much more than its materials.

Though the finished pieces may appear refined, detailed, and delicate, the path to that result is anything but gentle. The process is intensely physical—hammering, sawing, firing, drilling, engraving, filing, and
polishing—each step a dialogue between force and finesse. It is a craft built through doing, experimentation and failures. My approach has always been one of curiosity and perseverance: I can figure that out myself.
