Engagement Rings

Engagement rings are a most special item, wrapped up with promise and commitment.  It is important that they are unique and made to last.

Design often begins with the gemstone, the focal point around which the rest of the piece takes shape. A solitaire setting highlights a single stone, allowing its character to stand alone. Companion stones can be added to frame and accentuate a central gem, while multiple stones arranged
together create a shimmering, textured surface. Each approach offers a distinct way of celebrating light, colour, and form.

Often made using diamonds, a symbol of strength, purity, and eternal beauty, celebrating one of nature’s most remarkable materials.
Diamonds are classified by the Four C’s: Colour, Cut, Clarity, and Carat. Each factor contributes to a stone’s unique character and brilliance, and every significant diamond is accompanied by certification. Ultimately your budget will dictate these choices.

While diamonds have long been the traditional choice, their use is by no means a rule. Other durable gemstones—such as rubies or sapphires—offer luminous alternatives that bring colour and individuality to a design. Though best known for their rich blue tones, sapphires occur in a wide
spectrum of hues, each adding its own character and emotion to the piece.

When sourcing stones, collaboration and selection are central to the process. I deal with a number of New Zealand stone merchants and can usually find what were looking for.  If appropriate we can view the
stone in person before committing its purchase.

Another key consideration is the choice of metal. Platinum remains popular for its exceptional hardness, strength, and enduring lustre.
Gold, versatile and timeless, complements any design and introduces a sense of warmth—its tone shifting subtly with each alloy.

Wedding Bands

Exchanging wedding rings marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another.

A wedding ring's circular shape carries profound significance. With no beginning and no end, it symbolises eternity, wholeness, and everlasting love. The classic simple design also lends itself to comfortable and everyday wear. But any personal design is always an option.
Sometimes the bands match each other in their design, other times different, telling a unique part of the same story.

Key considerations include material, width, and profile, each shaping both the look and feel of the piece. With so many possibilities available, thoughtful guidance helps refine the options. Through discussion and quotation, the right balance of design, comfort, and character can be found—creating a piece that feels truly personal.
